Publications and Achievements

1997 - beginning

This is a very first issue of the Cosmetics&medicine magazine (12/1997). It was launched in Moscow, Russia by my friend, doctor Helen Hernandez, PHD, who had an ambitious goal - to create a publication that would explore scientific basis of cosmetic products and procedures. At that time I just graduated from Russian State Medical University and knew little about skin care. However, I was willing to learn and work hard - the desirable qualities in a startup venture. I became a contributing writer and then an assistant editor.

1999 - success

In 1999 I earned my PHD in biology and gained popularity as a writer, while the Cosmetic&Medicine Magazine grew in popularity and became an undispensable tool and resource for many Russian cosmetologists and manufacturers of personal products.

This is a current look of the Cosmetic&medicine Magazine. At present it is well known among Russian cosmetologists and cosmetic manufacturers and considered the most reliable source of in-depth scientific information on skin care and cosmetic procedures. Among its contributors are cosmetic chemists, biologists, manufacturers as well as plastic surgeons and cosmetologists. Its topics range from fundamental problems in skin biology such as the epidermal barrier, skin regeneration and aging to clinical and technical issues such as plastic surgery, product formulations, transdermal delivery and testing. In addition, the publishing house Cosmetics&medicine publishes Russian version of the SOWF Journal and a variety of professional books. I remained in a position of an assistant editor until I moved to the United States with my husband in 2001. I continue contributing to this publication.

2000 - my first book

This is a first edition of my first book "Novaya Kosmetologya" (The New Cosmetology) that I co-authored with Helen Hernandez. It was published in Moscow, Russia in 2000. The book presented current scientific concepts in skin care and product development in easy to understand language and provided expert advice on skin care and product selection.

In 2005 The Publishing House Cosmetics&Medicine published the second revised edition that now consisted of 2 books. The Book One was written by me, Anna Margolina, PHD and Helen Hernandez, PHD. The Book Two also included chapters written by other authors.

This is the Book One of the "Novaya Kosmetologya" by Anna Margolina and Helen Hernandez.

Currently, we are working on the third edition of the book, because scientific information that it contains needs to be constantly updated. . In the future, I may translate it in English.

Nauka i Zhizn

Nauka i Zhisn' (Science and Life) is a Russian magazine of popular science. Over several years I published there a number of articles on cosmetic science and skin care. Another topics that I covered are science behind a vegetarian diet, pheromones and social interaction, ecology and animal rights.

In 2006 I started my collaboration with the Magiray Cosmetic Company (Israel) providing scientific consultations, translation and copywriting services.

In addition, I produce bi-monthly Newsletter (in Russian) for Magiray customers providing current information on recent advances in cosmetic science.

2009 Skin Biology, Inc

In 1973, doctor Loren Pickart PHD discovered the GHK-Cu tri-peptide - a wonder molecule that could reverse aging in liver cell culture. From this discovery, Skin Biology, Inc was born. Skin Biology, Inc develops and markets skin care products containing GHK-Cu and educate consumers on skin care issues. Our first meeting with Dr. Pickart happened in 2004, when I interviewed him for Cosmetics&Medicine magazine. Then I reviewed his book Reverse Skin Aging that  was first published in 2005. In 2009 I was invited to provide consulting services to a company on a regular basic.

2009 Toastmasters International

As my close friends and relatives know, I had a severe stuttering problem since childhood. In 2009 I decided to challenge this handicap and enrolled in the Toastmasters club in Redmond, WA. In addition I followed a recovery guide outlined  by John Harrison in his book "Redefining stuttering" as well as had NLP therapy. By October 2010, I got my Competent Communicator Award. In December 2010 was elected as the club Vice President of Membership. Through hard work and dedication I was able to reduce my stuttering to a point, when it does not interfere with my communication anymore. I also gained recongition by the members of the club as an inspirational speaker and storyteller.
